KLT Brings Disney Classic To Life In Season Closer

The cast and crew of Kernersville Little Theatre’s fourth and final production of the current season are putting the finishing touches on Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” ahead of Friday’s opening night.

Beth James, KLT’s vice president of volunteer relations and the co-production manager for the musical, spoke to Scope News about a performance she expects will draw sellout crowds. In anticipation of the demand, a Saturday matinee has been added to the typical six-show schedule.

“Audiences will enjoy the beauty of the music, led by music director Chris Kiser, conducting an orchestra of fabulously talented musicians and sung by some of the Triad’s best voices,” James said. “KLT is thrilled to be able to present this show now, as Disney is about to return it to the vault, meaning it will not be available for production for at least several years.”

She noted that director Kristen Skidmore is a former long-time Disney employee and leads a “stellar” team working on stage and behind the scenes to put on a memorable live show.

“It is strongly recommended that tickets be purchased in advance, as they are selling quickly already,” James advised.

Performances will be held at Fitzgerald Auditorium, 512 West Mountain Street, starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. The same schedule follows next week with the addition of a 2 p.m. matinee on June 22.

Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here or at the door while available. Reservations can be obtained by calling 336-993-6556.

James explained that KLT is already busy planning its 48th season, beginning with “Escape to Margaritaville” in September.

“The show, which features music by the late Jimmy Buffett, will be performed at the Ciener Botanical Garden,” she said.

Other performances planned for the upcoming season include “Miracle on 34th Street,” “Murder on the Orient Express,” and the Stephen Sondheim musical comedy “Company.”
