Tillerson disputes allegations in new tell-all Trump book

Amid continued controversy surrounding the release of “Fire and Fury,” a book by journalist Michael Wolff about the Trump administration’s first year, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson responded to questions about some of the author’s more sensational claims.

In a CNN interview, Tillerson said that he has at no point questioned President Donald Trump’s mental ability to perform his duties, a claim Wolff said was consistent among the president’s inner circle.

“I’ve never questioned his mental fitness,” Tillerson said. “I have no reason to question his mental fitness.”

He was at the center of a relatively minor scandal last year when he faced allegations that he called Trump a “f—ing moron.”

Tillerson offered his take on a number of hot-button issues during the rare interview, including his stated intention to serve out the entire year in his current post at the State Department.

“I think we’re going to have a very productive 2018,” he said.

He further clarified his point, stating that he intends “to be here for the whole year.”
