Bannon reportedly forced out as executive chairman at Breitbart

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who has been at the center of the scandal surrounding a new tell-all book about the Trump administration, is stepping down from his post at the conservative news outlet Breitbart.

Bannon returned to the site as executive chairman after his ouster from the White House last year and has continued to face controversy for his political activism — including his avid support for Alabama U.S. Senate hopeful Roy Moore even after the controversial candidate faced numerous allegations of sexual misconduct.

His name made headlines in recent days for a series of quotes attributed to him in journalist Michael Wolff’s new book, “Fire and Fury.”

Amid the backlash, The New York Times reports that Bannon has been forced out by billionaire conservative donor Rebekah Mercer, who publicly severed ties with him last week.
