Woman drives vehicle into White House fence

Authorities in the nation’s capital believe a woman intentionally rammed her vehicle into a barrier located near the west side of the White House.

According to a source cited by CNN, the incident occurred Friday afternoon, shortly after President Donald Trump and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull met inside the executive residence.

The driver was taken into custody at the scene and no one else was injured, according to comments by the Secret Service.

Traffic was rerouted after the crash and the White House was placed on lockdown, though the vehicle did not fully breach the security fence.

Police did not immediately name the suspect, though reports indicate she is believed to be mentally ill and the incident is not thought to have been an attempt to target Trump.
