‘I’m back’: Schwarzenegger recovering from emergency open-heart surgery

Bodybuilder-turned-actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger is recovering in Los Angeles following surgery to replace a heart valve, according to a representative.

Daniel Ketchell said the 70-year-old was listed in stable condition at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.

In a tweet Friday, he confirmed that the former California governor was alert and “in good spirits,” noting that his first words after surgery “were actually ‘I’m back'” — an apparent nod to his “Terminator” catch phrase.

The surgery replaced a pulmonic valve already replaced more than 20 years ago.

Ketchell explained that the 1997 surgery was “never meant to be permanent” and that the valve had already exceeded its expected lifespan.
