What might have started out as the dream of fans dissatisfied with the current crop of politicians has now become serious discussion.
Buried deep in a lengthy feature article about wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson, Rolling Stone reported that the widely popular entertainer has been involved in “under-the-radar” discussions with political advisers from both sides of the aisle.
Johnson described the group as consisting of “Republicans, Democrats, independents, mayors, strategists, you name it.”
He is far from announcing a presidential bid, insisting quite the opposite in the recent interview.
“Just soaking it in,” the 45-year-old said of his meetings. “Trying to learn as much as I possibly can.”
Johnson said he was “flattered” by the buzz around his possible entrance into politics, but he said he is not ready for that transition just yet.
“I feel like the best thing I can do now is, give me years,” he said. “Let me go to work and learn.”
