Though she has remained largely supportive of her ex-husband and the father of three of her children, Ivana Trump revealed in a recent interview that she does not believe President Donald Trump should seek a second term.
Trump confirmed his intention to seek re-election earlier this year, marking the earliest point a sitting president has made such an announcement in his first term.
For his ex-wife, however, the effort of such a campaign doesn’t seem to present a sufficient reward.
“I’ll tell you something, I don’t think it’s necessary,” she said in a wide-ranging New York Post interview.
Ivana Trump, who was married to the businessman for about 15 years before they divorced in 1992, said the president is a the point in his life that he should enjoy what he has built.
“He has a good life and he has everything,” she said. “Donald is going to be 74, 73 for the next [election] and maybe he should just go and play golf and enjoy his fortune.
The interview also touched on issues including the recent divorce of her son, Donald Trump Jr., from his wife, Vanessa, amid allegations that he was unfaithful.
Though Ivana Trump acknowledged that she could relate with her situation, she stopped short of criticizing her son.
“But who am I to judge and who knows what was the situation at that moment?” she said.
