On the same day disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein surrendered to New York authorities on charges of rape and other sexual abuse, actor James Caan defended another Hollywood legend against claims of misconduct.
The 78-year-old actor known for his work on “The Godfather” called Morgan Freeman “a good guy” and lamented the social atmosphere in which the recent allegations would be given oxygen by the media.
“We’re becoming a very strange place,” he told a TMZ cameraman.
Referencing the litany of complaints — some decidedly more serious than others — lodged against powerful men across many industries, Caan expressed dismay over the apparent collapse of courtship.
“I think that’s why God made men and women, so they could be attracted to each other,” he said.
