Former professional wrestler Glenn Jacobs is now the Republican mayor-elect of Tennessee’s third-largest county.
Voters in Knox County chose the hulking entertainer-turned-politician over his Democratic challenger, Linda Haney.
Jacobs, 50, is known to scores of WWE fans as Kane, who often performed alongside the Undertaker during his lengthy career.
His win follows a growing number of entertainers exploring elected office, most notably President Donald Trump. As a candidate, Jacobs has expressed his support for Trump.
In his victory speech, he thanked voters for their support and his rivals — both in the primary and general election — for running honorable campaigns. He then called on Republicans in the state to continue supporting Republican candidates in upcoming elections.
“Tonight we can celebrate by going forward,” he said. “All of us have to work together because we have some very important races that we have to win.”
