A less-than-subtle change to the way Netflix presents its programming led to some unwanted speculation for the content-streaming giant.
As CNN reported, new video promos began airing between programs in recent days, sparking some consternation among some subscribers.
After more than a few social media posts shared a commitment to leave the platform if it begins airing ads, Netflix stepped in to put the concerns to rest.
First of all, the corporate statement said, viewers can skip the content currently being shown. Secondly, they are not commercials.
“We are testing whether surfacing recommendations between episodes helps members discover stories they will enjoy faster,” the company said.
