Maker of Bounty, Tide, moves to trademark “LOL” and “WTF”

Procter & Gamble, the American corporation with dozens of iconic brands in its stable of products, is hoping to diversify further to reach a younger segment of the market.

Among the consumer products they plan to unveil are cleaners and air fresheners using popular social media acronyms as their names.

To accomplish its goal, the company has applied to trademark groups of letters including “LOL,” “WTF,” “NBD,” and “FML.”
