Following a televised conference call with his Mexican counterpart, President Donald Trump announced the two nations had reached a bilateral trade agreement with the possibility of Canada’s inclusion following further negotiations.
The U.S. president is calling the agreement the United State-Mexico Trade Agreement, shunning the “NAFTA” name he has long railed against.
As CNBC reported, the Nasdaq Composite hit a record high with a one-percent increase and the Dow Jones went up 260 points as the news resonated through Wall Street.
The S&P also ticked up, hitting a heights on the strength of financial sector gains and increases in materials.
