Months after their paths crossed in Philadelphia for what became a story shared widely on social media, the relationship between a homeless man and a young couple soured.
After Johnny Bobbitt Jr. used the last of his cash to help out Kate McClure when she ran out of gas, the woman and her boyfriend launched an online fundraiser that topped $400,000.
Bobbitt, however, claims the couple used the majority of that cash for their own expenses and amusement.
A judge this week ordered McClure and Mark D’Amico to turn over the money to an attorney representing Bobbitt, who has been instructed to place it in a trust.
There remains a dispute between McClure and D’Amico, who say they’ve already distributed half of the funds, and Bobbitt’s lawyers who say he has gotten just $75,000.
