President Donald Trump says he is still pursuing U.S. taxpayer-funded options to pay for the border wall he promised as a candidate.
Though he persistently vowed that Mexico would pay for the massive construction job, he has sought domestic funding since taking office.
In statements to reporters aboard Air Force One, he pointed to “two options” he still reserves as the possible engineers of his signature policy proposal.
“We have military, we have Homeland Security,” he said.
Trump continues to threaten a government shutdown if legislators do not agree to fund the wall. His comment came weeks after an Army Corps of Engineers spokesperson said the the agency could theoretically complete the task.
