Authorities in Georgia say a would-be armed robber was shot by a pistol-packing customer when he tried to stick up a Villa Rica Waffle House early Thursday morning.
Local police confirmed the incident in a Facebook post.
“The suspect pointed a gun at the employees and announced that he was robbing the business,” the Villa Rica Police Department wrote. “A customer who was dining inside then shot the suspect and the suspect fled from the restaurant. Witnesses reported the suspect left in a small dark colored vehicle. During the investigation it was discovered that the suspect dropped the gun as he was fleeing the scene. It was also found that the gun used was a BB gun.”
Investigators said they are working with Carrollton police, who reported finding a dead body.
“We are currently working with them to see if the cases are connected,” the Facebook post concluded.
Authorities say the investigation is still active and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Chris Bertera at 678-840-1320 or email CBertera@VillaRica.org.
