Hillary among figures erased from Texas history curriculum

While some critics might argue Hillary Clinton is no longer relevant in her party, one state has decided the first lady, senator, secretary of state and two-time Democratic presidential candidate does not warrant a mandatory spot in the history books either.

She is one of several historical figures teachers will be free to skip over in an effort to streamline history classes and eliminate extraneous topics.

A GOP-backed state school board accepted the recommendation of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills work group in eliminating Clinton, as well as figures including Helen Keller and 1964 Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater.

Stripping Clinton from the curriculum is expected to shave about a half hour of education time from each semester.
