In a memo to employees this week, reports indicate that CEO Sundar Pichai reiterated the assertion that ideology plays no part in the algorithms or other technology the company uses.

“We do not bias our products to favor any political agenda,” he wrote. “The trust our users place in us is our greatest asset and we must always protect it. If any Googler ever undermines that trust, we will hold them accountable.”

Pichai went on to cite “recent news stories” containing claims that Google staffers discussed ways to counter the narrative surrounding President Donald Trump’s travel ban.

He called any suggestion “that we would compromise the integrity of our search results for a political end … absolutely false.”
