According to 23-year-old Laura Knoblach, her father — 60-year-old Republican lawmaker Jim Knoblach — molested and inappropriately touched her for 12 years, ending just two years ago.

She said her father overpowered her on multiple occasions, pinning her against a wall or climbing into bed with her.

“He would put his arm around me and not let me get up or get away and he would lick my neck or bite my ear,” she said.

The lawmaker called her allegations “false” in a statement released shortly after his daughter’s interview, but confirmed that he would be ending his campaign to focus on his family.

“I love my children more than anything, and would never do anything to hurt them,” he said, adding that his family has “made repeated attempts to reconcile” with Laura in the past.

The alleged victim said she has confided in relatives and others in her life. Local authorities reportedly began looking into related claims last year but have not yet filed any charges.
