Dem senator hints at possible Kavanaugh investigation after midterms

As U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh remains on defense against multiple allegations of sexual assault, at least one Democratic senator appears to indicate he could face a more thorough congressional investigation if he is ultimately confirmed to the high court.

“If he’s confirmed, and these allegations are not treated fully and fairly and investigated, then there will be a cloud over Judge Kavanaugh’s service on the Supreme Court,” said U.S. Sen. Chris Coons, D-Delaware, in an NBC interview this week.

Pressed on whether he would rule out a Democratic-led probe should his part win control of the legislative branch, the senator ruled nothing out.

“I did not say no,” he replied.
