U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., condemned those on both sides of the aisle for “vile” attacks on both Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his accusers.
His comments from the Senate floor on Wednesday came one day before planned hearings during which Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, who claims the judge assaulted her at a high school party, will testify before the Senate judiciary committee.
Flake, who sits on that committee, decried the “toxic political culture” that has permeated D.C. since the allegations came to light earlier this month.

“These past two years we have tested the limits of how low we can go,” he said. “But, my colleagues, I say to you that winning at all costs is too high a cost.”
