The California professor who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault has received financial support from thousands of donors in the wake of her powerful Senate judiciary committee testimony this week.
Two online fundraisers have collected a combined total of more than $700,000 as of Friday evening.
One GoFundMe account is dedicated to providing security for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford with any excess money earmarked for “women’s organizations and/or into an account to cover similar costs incurred in comparable situations.”
The other attracted donations from more than 11,000 individuals for a total of more than $500,000 set to go “directly to the Ford family.”
During Thursday’s testimony, Ford acknowledged that she was aware of “several GoFundMe sites” set up on her behalf.
“I haven’t had a chance to figure out how to manage those because I’ve never had one,” she said.
