According to police, 37-year-old Freeman Scott Ireland — recently released from prison after serving a 20-year sentence for murder — was arrested this week on suspicion of second-degree forcible rape.

The alleged victim contacted police late Monday night and Ireland was still at the location when law enforcement arrived.

A police statement alleges that the suspect “sexually assaulted her while she was sleeping inside her home.”

Ireland remained behind bars with bond set at $500,000 as of the latest updates available.
