Alabama grocer tosses NFL-branded Pepsi over anthem protests

One Alabama grocer says he is prepared to lose customers over his decision to strip Pepsi products bearing the NFL logo from his store’s shelves.

S&Z Grocery in Athens shared the new policy in a Facebook post singling out “two items” in particular, the 20-ounce Pepsi and Diet Pepsi bottles.

“I refuse to sell the product until the logo is removed. I will not bow down in order to the [sic] make a dollar as long as the athletes are allowed to bow down and disrespect the flag and country that I love.”

Owner Phillip Stewart said he believes “it’s just wrong” to support the NFL amid player protests against racial injustice that President Donald Trump and others consider unpatriotic.
