The estate of the legendary entertainer has requested President Donald Trump refrain from using one of Prince’s biggest hits during campaign rallies.
Trump has frequently played “Purple Rain” during his political speeches, but the deceased singer’s half-brother, Omarr Baker, issued a recent statement calling for that practice to stop.
“The Prince Estate has never given permission to President Trump or The White House to use Prince’s songs and have requested that they cease all use immediately.”
No further details were immediately available. Several other artists or their representatives — including R.E.M., the Rolling Stones and Adele — have issued similar statements in the past.
