After breezing past a $25,000 goal within hours, the LaunchGood online fundraiser set a revised $50,000 goal that it also eclipsed within a day. As of Sunday, Celebrate Mercy and MPower Change were working toward raising $75,000.

“The Muslim-American community extends its hands to help the shooting victims, whether it is the injured victims or the Jewish families who have lost loved ones,” the organizers wrote. “We wish to respond to evil with good, as our faith instructs us, and send a powerful message of compassion through action.”

Eleven people were killed and another six — including four police officers — were wounded when a gunman opened fire at the Tree of Life synagogue.
