“I severed my hand with a Skil saw,” he said. “The state of my mind was a psychotic episode.”

LaTourrette described being off his prescribed medications 17 years ago when he cut off his own hand and cauterized the wound. He also admitted to lying about the incident in an effort to attract acting opportunities.

“The film industry obviously took a different angle, that I was different,” he said. “And so they liked that.”

His recent revelation, which he acknowledged would kill his career, was presented with a call to others with mental health issues to remain on their medications.

“The power is in your hands to take your medication in the morning or at night,” he said. “So this, this, this discourse of my life doesn’t need to necessarily be yours. Because it happens quick.”
