Congressional hopeful Dan Crenshaw said he doesn’t make a habit of being offended, but felt compelled to issue a statement after Saturday’s installment of “Saturday Night Live.”

Pete Davidson addressed the Texas Republican during a segment of the Weekend Update sketch.

The comedian said Crenshaw was “kind of cool” but resembled “a hit man in a porno movie,” going on to feign remorse for the jokes because “he lost his eye in war, or whatever.”

Davidson earned some criticism for his comments, including from Crenshaw, who addressed them in a tweet on Sunday.

“Good rule in life: I try hard not to offend; I try harder not to be offended,” he wrote. “That being said, I hope @nbcsnl recognizes that vets don’t deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes.”
