FDA set to announce ban on flavored vaping products

A popular alternative to cigarettes — especially among younger generations raised on the ills of smoking — is expected to also face disruptive federal regulations.

According to reports this week, Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb is planning to enact a ban on certain flavored vaping products.

An announcement of the new policy, which could come next week, will also likely include steps to thwart the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors.

The move would be a next step to Gottlieb’s previous indication that such a ban would be enforced if industry leaders could not adequately address the rising number of teens who use the products.
