After a hiatus from their popular HGTV series and associated media projects, husband-and-wife home makeover team Chip and Joanna Gaines are in talks for a major new TV project.
The couple appeared on “The Tonight Show” Friday evening to announce the end of their self-imposed break.
Chip Gaines described a non-disclosure agreement with Discovery, telling host Jimmy Fallon that its terms dictated he could only tell his mother the details.
“So mom, I just wanted to make a quick announcement: We are coming back to television,” he joked. “You are going to get to see the kids grow up, you are going to see us, well maybe a six-month delay like the rest of the world, but we are excited to be back.”
Discovery acknowledged that it is in “exclusive talks” with the Gaineses and both sides are “working out the final details.”
A spokesperson for the couple’s company, Magnolia Ventures, expressed excitement over the “work in progress,” which John Marsicano said is currently in its “early stages.”
Chip Gaines offered a few more details, saying he and Joanna are “actually going to have a network” they can tailor to their family.
“It’s going to be filmed a lot in Waco, Texas, so we don’t have to travel a whole lot,” he said. “So with all things being equal, we’re really excited.”
