While scores of fans will remember his impact in the world of comic books and superheroes, Stan Lee was also remembered as a World War II veteran upon his death on Veteran’s Day at the age of 95.
The U.S. Army offered a brief recap of his military service in a tweet on Monday.
“Rest in peace, Soldier,” the post reads. “Comic book creator @TheRealStanLee has passed away at the age of 95. Lee served in the #USArmy Signal Corps during WWII from 1942-1945. We are deeply grateful for his service to our country and for his tremendous support to servicemembers. #Excelsior!”
As of this writing, Lee’s cause of death had not been reported.
