After Amazon announced its plan to split a new headquarters between New York City and the suburbs of D.C., U.S. Representative-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., expressed concern over the projected terms of the deal.
“Amazon is a billion-dollar company,” she tweeted. “The idea that it will receive hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks at a time when our subway is crumbling and our communities need MORE investment, not less, is extremely concerning to residents here.”
Though the two share little common ideological ground, Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson agreed with Ocasio-Cortez’s point.
“Jeff Bezos, who is the world’s richest man, will receive more than $2 billion in subsidies from you, the taxpayer,” he said.
Though he might “hate to admit it,” Carlson went on to concede that “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a very good point” in voicing her criticism of the arrangement.
