“I should have done that,” the president conceded.
Trump claimed he was “extremely busy on calls for the country” all day.
The move came just two days after the administration blamed inclement weather for Trump’s decision to cancel a trip to a French cemetery as part of a trip tied to the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.
Trump was still abroad on Sunday when a traditional Veterans Day ceremony took place at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
He cited the international trip as part of his reason to skip a visit on Monday, adding that he “probably assumed” his visit to a Paris cemetery on Sunday “was fine.”
