In an interview this week, U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy expressed alarm over President Donald Trump’s preemptive defense of daughter Ivanka’s use of a personal email account for government business.
“I am concerned anytime any president prejudges the outcome of an investigation,” the South Carolina Republican said.

Gowdy added that lawmakers have “a responsibility to make sure that the records and the Presidential Records Act is complied with, and that’s true no matter who the person is.”
The former prosecutor is currently seeking additional information after recent reports exposed the first daughter’s email use, which Trump claimed was “fake news.”
