ABC’s “The View” devolved into a near shouting match Monday during what began as a memorial segment for former President George H.W. Bush.
As co-host Joy Behar discussed the late 41st president, she took the opportunity to contrast his public service with that of the current commander in chief.
After noting that Bush “signed into law the Clean Air Act amendment of 1990,” she said that the “president we have now is trying to unravel everything that he did and Obama did.”
Meghan McCain interjected, seeking to keep the focus of the segment on Bush.
“I don’t want to talk about Trump,” she said.
“Well I do for a second, so excuse me,” Behar responded.
McCain said that the panel was “honoring a great president who passed,” prompting Behar to interrupt.
“Excuse me a second, please,” she said. “I want to talk about the difference.”
The back and forth ended after the women proclaimed to each other that they did not care what the other wanted to say. Moderator Whoopi Goldberg quickly concluded the bickering with a commercial break.
