In the wake of new court revelations claiming Donald Trump directed his former lawyer to commit crimes ahead of the 2016 election, the president tweeted that he was actually exonerated by the Friday filings.
“Totally clears the president,” Trump wrote. “Thank you!”
The overwhelming majority of thousands of responses questioned the logic of his statement given the details revealed by prosecutors.
“Except for that little part where the US Attorney’s Office says that you directed and coordinated with Cohen to commit two felonies,” he tweeted. “Other than that, totally scot-free.”
