Following the sentencing of President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney this week, a legal analyst on the Fox News Channel elaborated on the importance of language being used by New York prosecutors.
Andrew Napolitano said they “have evidence that the president of the United States committed a felony by ordering and paying Michael Cohen to break the law.”
He explained the reason behind his assertion.
“They told that to the federal judge,” he said. “Under the rules, they can’t tell that to the federal judge unless they actually have that hardcore evidence.”
The rules also prohibit prosecutors from sharing the information with a judge “unless they intend to do something with that evidence,” he said.
