GOP leader promises ‘action’ against Rep. King over ‘white supremacist’ comment

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., has promised to take “action” against a fellow Republican congressman in hot water over comments apparently defending white nationalism and white supremacy.

“That language has no place in America,” McCarthy said of Rep. Steve King’s recent comments. “That is not the America I know and it is most definitely not the party of Lincoln.”

McCarthy added that he is scheduled to meet with the Iowa representative on Monday.

“Action will be taken,” he added. “I’m having a serious conversation with Congressman Steve King on his future and role in this Republican Party.”
