GOP leaders strip Rep. King of committee memberships amid controversy

After facing major backlash for recent comments seemingly defending white supremacy, Republican U.S. Rep. Steve King of Iowa learned this week that he won’t serve on any committees in the new session of Congress.

The Washington Post’s Mike DeBonis quoted House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Monday.

“We will not be seating Steve King on any committees in the 116th Congress,” he told reporters.
