Pop star Stefani Germanotta, known professionally as Lady Gaga, dedicated a portion of a recent concert to calling out Vice President Mike Pence for supporting his wife’s position as a teacher at a strict Christian private school.
“To Mike Pence who thinks it’s acceptable that his wife works at a school that bans LGBTQ: You are wrong,” she told the audience at a Las Vegas show. “You said you should not discriminate against Christianity. You are the worst representation of what it means to be a Christian.”
She then went on to identify as a Christian and explain her view that it means “we bear no prejudice and everybody is welcome.”
In addition to addressing Pence, she also urged President Donald Trump to drop his hard-line stance on funding a border wall and allow the government to reopen.
“There are people that live paycheck to paycheck that need their money,” she said of the federal government employees nationwide either on furlough or missing paychecks while the government is shut down.
