A D.C. woman impacted by the recent government shutdown said an anonymous donor is responsible for allowing her to make ends meet.
Quashawn Latimer had been one of the faces seen on cable news during the record-long shutdown. The U.S. Navy veteran shared her personal battle with cancer and struggle to pay basic bills as her paychecks were held up during more than a month of lapsed funding.
It appears her story resonated with one generous viewer.
“Someone called in to the hospital and took care of my account,” Latimer said. “They wiped out my entire balance.”
She said an anonymous source also paid her rent for next month.
“It is blessings, and it is a bright side to this, and I thank God for it,” she said.
