In a candid and controversial admission during a recent interview, actor Liam Neeson acknowledged the race-based reaction had to learning a woman close to him had been raped.
“I’ll tell you this story,” he told the interviewer. “This is true.”
Neeson recalled asking the woman what she could remember about her attacker.
“She said it was a black person,” he replied. “I went up and down areas with a
[nightstick], hoping I’d be approached by somebody — I’m ashamed to say that. And I did it for maybe a week, hoping some ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could kill him.”
He almost immediately recognized the impact of his story, describing his actions as “horrible” and “awful.”
Tom Bateman, an actor who stars alongside Neeson in “Cold Pursuit,” chimed in with his own take.
“Holy shit,” he can be heard saying in the recorded interview.
