Trump ramps up McCain attack, says he ‘was never a fan’ of late senator

After airing grievances on Twitter in a tirade that included an attack on John McCain, who died last year of brain cancer, President Donald Trump received harsh criticism from a variety of sources — including the late Arizona senator’s daughter, Meghan McCain.

In typical Trump style, however, he has not backed away from his comments or offered an apology. Instead, he dug in his heels when asked about his continued public denigration of his frequent political foe.

“I was never a fan of John McCain, and I never will be,” Trump said of the Vietnam prisoner of war and longtime Republican lawmaker.
