AOC shuts down audience member who called former GOP rep a ‘moron’

Former Republican U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis of South Carolina appeared with freshman U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., on a town hall debate stage that aired Friday on MSNBC.

During a discussion of the Green New Deal favored by Ocasio-Cortez, Inglis attracted some boos from the crowd when he questioned the ambitious proposal’s viability.

When an audience member called the Republican a ‘moron,’ his political rival stepped in.

“Hey!” Ocasio-Cortez replied. “That’s unacceptable.”

She went on to describe her reaction as “the difference between [her] and Trump.”

In a tweet sharing footage of the exchange, she added: “Let’s debate, not debase.”
