Following the partially redacted release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney was among those denouncing actions by President Donald Trump as described therein.
The Utah Republican wrote in part that he was “sickened at the extent and pervasiveness of dishonesty and misdirection by individuals in the highest office of the land, including the President.”

Trump responded with a tweet of his own. He provided the caption to footage from Romney’s unsuccessful 2012 presidential bid.
“If [Romney] spent the same energy fighting Barack Obama as he does fighting Donald Trump, he could have won the race (maybe)!” the president tweeted.
