Adult brothers raped young siblings for a decade, dad ignored warnings: Police

Authorities in Minnesota say three men have been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing their own siblings over a period as long as 10 years.

The brothers, all in their 20s, face various accusations from their relatives.

Their father was also arrested and acknowledged he had heard accusations of abuse at the hands of the youngest suspect.

Reports indicate the 62-year-old dismissed the claims as a result of his son’s “raging hormones.”

Among the accusers is a 19-year-old who told officials that she and her siblings ran away from the home. She described a three-year period during which the eldest suspect raped her repeatedly. That abuse allegedly began when she was 12.

The same brother is also accused of abusing a 16-year-old sister from the time she was very young. Two younger siblings — a 12-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy — provided similar claims of abuse by their three older brothers.

In addition to the sexual abuse, the children allegedly left the home because it was an unfit environment. Police believe they were not attending school and the home did not have heat.

The father is expected to face criminal charges including child neglect resulting in a sex offense. His three sons face counts of sexual assault in the first degree.

All four suspects are set to appear in court this month for a hearing.
