Attorney general might not show up for scheduled congressional hearing

Days before he is set to take questions on Capitol Hill, U.S. Attorney General William Barr is apparently reconsidering.

House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerrold Nadler has reportedly proposed ground rules for Thursday’s planned testimony.

Sources say the New York Democrat wants to give each committee member five minutes to question Barr. He also reportedly wants both sides to have 30 minutes for additional questioning.

Several Democratic lawmakers have expressed a desire to get to the bottom of Barr’s summary of the recently released Mueller report.

Reports this weekend signal that Barr does not agree to those terms and is looking for a different format.

Some on social media are urging Nadler and the committee to use congressional powers to compel Barr’s testimony.
