‘A disgrace to the office’: PD apologizes, removes tweet calling Rep. Tlaib ‘un-American’

The Fontana Police Department in California is apologizing for a now-deleted tweet reportedly posted by an off-duty employee.

Last week, the post reportedly linked to a post about U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., by a conservative website. The author included some opinions about the freshman legislator.

“Nice knowing you!” the tweet reportedly began. “I became bulimic because I vomit every time I hear your BS. You are one of the most un-American person s [sic] I know. You are a disgrace to the office you hold.”

In a subsequent statement, the agency issued an apology.

“This careless act does not reflect the values of the men and women that honorably serve our community,” it stated.

The culprit was not identified, but the department indicated he or she has been prohibited from accessing the Twitter account.
