The new op-ed was penned by former U.S. Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II, Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, and Maeve Kennedy McKean.

“Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — Joe and Kathleen’s brother and Maeve’s uncle — is part of this campaign to attack the institutions committed to reducing the tragedy of preventable infection diseases,” they wrote.

The three relatives claimed he has been “part of a misinformation campaign that’s having heartbreaking — and deadly — consequences.”

The son of former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy shared his views in a 2014 book. In addition to expressing concern about the chemical makeup of vaccines, he urged lawmakers to increase available vaccine exemptions.

Such activism has been linked to increased levels of preventable diseases including measles.

“These tragic numbers are caused by the growing fear and mistrust of vaccines — amplified by internet doomsayers,” the op-ed concluded.
