Pence tells college grads it is ‘fashionable’ to ‘discriminate people of faith’

The vice president shared a pessimistic outlook for Christians in America during a recent commencement address.

Mike Pence spoke to graduating seniors at Liberty University in Virginia this weekend. During the remarks, he railed against what he described as discrimination by leftist political forces against faith communities.

“We live in a time when it’s become acceptable and even fashionable to ridicule and even discriminate people of faith,” he said.

Pence said he and his wife, Karen, had faced “harsh attacks by the media and the secular left,” blaming “a bevy of Hollywood liberals” in particular.

He told the students that they should prepare to be “shunned or ridiculed for defending the teachings of the Bible.”

Telling the audience that it has historically “been pretty easy to call yourself a Christian,” Pence said that “things are different now.”

The vice president denounced acts against Christians as “un-American,” but claimed the Trump administration is bucking the trend.

“On our watch, no one is going to prevent you from practicing your faith or preaching what is in your heart,” he said.
