4-year-old calls police; he and 6 other young kids left in hot car: Reports

One of the seven young children reportedly left inside a hot car in Maryland last week was able to alert authorities.

According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a shopping mall in St. Charles on Friday afternoon.

Upon arrival, they found a car packed with children between 2 and 4 years old with the windows rolled up.

“Officers helped the children out of the vehicle and Charles County Fire/EMS provided treatment on the scene,” a statement revealed.

The kids were described as “scared” and “sweaty” after spending at least 20 minutes in the increasingly hot vehicle.

A 4-year-old is credited with using a phone inside to contact authorities on a day when temperatures hit nearly 80 degrees.

As Scope News previously reported, a father in Minnesota was arrested earlier this month after his 4-year-old son died inside of a hot car on a day when temperatures were nearly 10 degrees cooler.

About 10 minutes after authorities arrived, a 37-year-old woman showed up. She was described as the mother of two of the children inside.

She is expected to face criminal charges including confinement of children inside a motor vehicle.
